PE Belgrade Metro and Train has announced a tender for the preparation of the Elaborate on geological research with geotechnical project reports for the TBM section from (but excluding) the Pancevacki Most station, until the end of the first phase of line 1.

As defined by the project assignment, the section of the first phase of Line 1 of the Belgrade metro from the Pancevacki Most station to the end of the first phase of line 1, including the Karaburma station, will be constructed using a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine).

The geological documentation should define all the engineering-geological and geotechnical conditions for the preparation of the IDP for the construction of the first phase of Metro Line 1 on this section from km 15+375 to km 16+600.

The tender documentation states that in 2021, detailed engineering geological-geotechnical research was carried out and the "Elaborate on the engineering geological-geotechnical conditions for the construction of the first phase of Line 1 of the Belgrade metro" was prepared, for the purposes of the Conceptual Project of the complete first phase of Line 1.

- At the time the aforementioned documentation was being prepared, the construction of a tunnel shallowly below the surface (the "Cut&Cover" technology) was foreseen on the subject section of Line 1. However, during the development of technical solutions and the development of the Conceptual Project, the construction technology has been changed, from "Cut&Cover" to TBM technology, the depth of the tunnel was increased, and thus the depth of the objects located on the route: metro station Karaburma and a launch shaft for two TBMs - the document states.

As a consequence of the change in the depth of the tunnels and facilities, the necessity of broadening the geological-geotechnical investigation works on this part of the route has arisen. This also calls for a new Elaborate on geological investigations.

The stated aim of the research is to complete the picture of the geological structure and geotechnical conditions in the parts where it has not been defined by the previous research.

The tender is open until August 29.
