The City of Kragujevac has published the results of the international contest for the urban reconstruction and rehabilitation of the spatial cultural-historical unit of the Military-Technical Institute in Kragujevac.

Of the 14 works that took part in the contest, the jury decided to award the RSD 4 million first prize to the design of the authorial team consisting of Aleksandra Đorđević, Katarina Petrović, Marina Ilić and Nevena Balalić. Second prize, worth RSD 2 million, went to the company Arco Projekt from Belgrade, whereas the RSD 1 million third prize went to the authorial team consisting of Milena Vukmirović, Andreja Berić, Milutin Folić, Aleksandar Ćopić and Nadica Perović, according to the city’s website.

Within the measures and activities toward the urban reconstruction and regeneration of the spatial cultural-historical unit of the Military-Technical Institute, the City of Kragujevac had initiated the procedure for the carrying out of the urban-architectural contest with the aim of starting a long-term, all-encompassing process of the reconstruction of the space which had marked the development of the city in the preceding two centuries.


– The urban reconstruction and regeneration of this spatial cultural-historical unit of extraordinary importance entails the preservation, revitalization, upgrade, adequate use and presentation of the facilities of historical heritage and spaces in their surroundings, all to the end of reviving the complex, improving the urban-architectural, economic, ecological and social aspects of the regenerated space, which would at the same time improve the image of the city’s cultural area and its recognition on a wider regional and even international, level – says the contest program.
