Natural History Center in Ovcar Banja Meant for Research and Development of Educational Tourism Opens
We want to contribute to the protection of the environment, beauty and tourist potentials of Serbia, the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, emphasized on the occasion of the opening and also announced new projects, the construction of a rehabilitation center, as part of the Cacak General Hospital, and the mud extraction project at Lake Medjuvrsje.
Cacak will also build a biomass power plant, so the mud can be used as an energy source for the production of green energy. That way, we are slowly entering the system of circular economy in the Republic of Serbia, Brnabic emphasized.
According to her, with the completion of the highway to Pozega, the traffic will be moved out from the Ovcar and Kablar gorge and it will be an opportunity to present all the beauties of the Ovcar and Kablar Gorge and Ovcar Banja.
Brnabic previously visited the Ovcar and Kablar Gorge and Lake Medjuvrsje, where she attended the presentation of the mud extraction project, worth almost EUR 40 million.
The minister of environmental protection of Serbia, Irena Vujovic, specified that approximately RSD 30 million was invested in the construction and equipping of the Natural History Center, which houses a part for scientific research activities and a museum with exhibitions of flora and fauna.
Considering that the building is a former elementary school that has been rearranged and adapted into a nature museum, it is important to emphasize that the facility will be used for educational purposes in the future as well and for the development of educational tourism, Vujovic explained.
