Power & Heat - Sustainable solutions for energy producers and distributors
For more than 60 years, we have had our roots in the generation and distribution of electricity and heat. Today, we are still the top address when it comes to the cost-efficient operation or the pragmatic new construction or conversion of fossil energy generation plants. Dornier Group has long been addressing the effects of the energy transition on the power plant fleet, and began accumulating expertise in renewable energies such as hydropower and biomass at an early stage. Dornier Group develops clever system concepts with heat accumulators, power-to-heat systems and flexible cogeneration units designed especially for the new challenges of combined heat and power generation in a highly volatile electricity market.
Major customers include electricity and heat suppliers as well as grid operators, with renowned power plant suppliers and general contractors, government departments, research institutes and multilateral development banks also counting among the company’s long-standing clients.
Renewables - Using the power of nature
In times of energy transition and strong reduction of conventional power generation, the Dornier Group has turned it into its business to develop innovative solutions using wind and sun for power generation. Among other things, we plan and implement photovoltaic systems on water, so-called floating PV systems. The technology offers the potential to reduce evaporation losses in regions with water scarcity while benefiting from higher efficiency than conventional PV systems. The portfolio is complemented by extensive wind sector services. For example, the service portfolio includes mechanical and electrical installation for onshore wind turbines, mechanical and electrical installation for PV solar technologies, including civil work and commissioning, as well as operation and maintenance of onshore wind turbines including blade inspection. We plan renewable energy projects with leading technical expertise, based on financial assumptions tailored to customer, country, and project-specific requirements. Furthermore, we implement our solutions with professional management in the project phases of financing, procurement, construction, and operation. Our services range from renewable energy resource assessment and owner’s engineering to project implementation.
Mobility - Intelligent concepts for sustainable mobility
The mobility industry will be fundamentally changed in the future due to the convergence of autonomous driving, connectivity, and electrification of transport. The market for electric vehicles is growing rapidly so, according to conservative forecasts, electrified vehicles (incl. hybrids) will already represent a quarter of new global production from 2025. The desire to own cars will generate the desire for pure mobility – fascinating concepts and projects for mobility will be shaped in the next decades. Not only this development will pose enormous challenges for airport operators and authorities, but also government organizations and financial institutions will be entrusted with air traffic. In addition to state-of-the-art intelligent traffic, toll systems, or development of master plans and network planning for rail transport, the Dornier Group is also dealing with globally enduring issues such as electric mobility and self-driving vehicles as part of new mobility concepts and sustainable urban mobility.
