Air Serbia commences seasonal flights to Bari
The inaugural flight was greeted at the Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport, located eight kilometers from the city center, the busiest one in southern Italy. Representatives of Air Serbia and the airport attended the official ceremony held on that occasion.
- We are glad that with this latest network expansion, we are further strengthening our position in Italy, only three days after we launched flights to Trieste. We are pleased to have the opportunity to offer travelers from all over the region more choice when planning a trip. The region of Apulia, whose administrative center is Bari, is known for its many cultural and historical sights, cities with unique architecture, but also good wines, delicious food and the famous hospitality of its inhabitants, and we believe that it will become one of the most popular destinations for summer vacations among our passengers - said Bosko Rupic, General Manager Commercial and Strategy, Air Serbia.
Located in the southern part of the Adriatic Sea, Bari is a port and university city, the second largest and most economically important in southern Italy. It offers visitors the pleasure of exploring the old town with its impressive walls and narrow streets, but also modern nightlife and authentic local wines and dishes.
- This is the first time ever for Bari airport to have a direct connection with Belgrade, and it will be an excellent driving force to forge alliances with the Balkan European markets to which we look with increasingly greater attention - said Antonio Maria Vasile, President of Aeroporti di Puglia. -Indeed, being connected to Belgrade carries a strategic value, as it is also an excellent hub for all our companies with strong interests in that particular part of Europe. It is the result of a meticulous job carried out with tenacity and passion during the difficult period of the pandemic. It was a focused and far-reaching project, which saw the active involvement of the most important stakeholders, embassies and consular authorities of the countries concerned. This was the first stage on a road that we hope will lead to even more ambitious goals.
By launching this service, seamless connections between Bari and other cities in Air Serbia’s network will be provided via Belgrade, such as to Athens, Bucharest, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Larnaca, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Split, Tirana and Tivat.
As early as June 6th, the Serbian national airline will launch flights to its sixth destination in this popular Mediterranean country - Bologna.
