The minister of trade, tourism and telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, said for RTS that the food market was stable and that the supply was good.

– The biggest concern is the imported inflation and fighting against the inflation remains the highest priority – Matic says and adds that the inflation is expected to drop in the second half of the year. – The announced measures that the Central European Bank is to adopt at the session at the end of June include an increase of the key interest rate and decisions are expected to be made on a quarterly basis. There will no longer be cheap bank money.

She also stated that the Goods Reserves Directorate would again react with an additional 23,000 tons of flour for the baking industry, at a subsidized price of RSD 33 per a kilogram of flour.

– The state of the goods reserves is good and under control – Matic said.

When it comes to the prices, stabilization is expected to start from mid-year, and the inflation should start dropping in the second half of the year.

– We believe that the market will stabilize and that the prices will drop toward the end of the year – the minister said.
