Milsped Group – From Challenge to Innovation

Considering the constant changes in the business world, the increase in the importance of a timely and complete information, but also the need to respond to the constantly increasing demands of the clients, the tendency of the company Milsped toward upgrading the services and constantly innovating has proved to be crucial. In line with that, the development and progress of the company is always accompanied by the development and upgrade of new information technologies and software which help a good process organization, transparency and a quicker availability and information processing.

After years of researching the market, the management of Milsped reached the decision to implement the new Transport Manager and thereby additionally upgrade its business. Following several selection rounds, the German company Logistische Informationsysteme AG (LIS) has been selected as the implementer among various implementers from throughout Europe.

LIS is a software company which started developing logistics software 20 years ago and has been working on developing and upgrading various solutions for companies in the field of logistics since then. The company’s seat is in Germany, and there are another five branch offices throughout Europe. Its offer features various solutions, and Milsped chose the Transport Manager software WinSped.

The WinSped software is currently used by over 1,000 companies with over 26,000 users, among which are world-famous logistics companies. WinSped is a modular software suitable for FTL, LTL, groupage transport and automotive logistics. Furthermore, with WinSped, it is possible to integrate other apps developed by LIS, such as WebSped – a web portal for clients and track&trace shipments, and AppSped – a mobile app for drivers which helps them communicate with dispatchers and facilitates their work in the field.

The first phase of the project (Proof of Concept) took six months, during which an analysis of over 30 case studies with various scenarios was done. Key users from all operating sectors who had the opportunity to use the software itself, to test modules and rate the software’s functionality, took part in it. After six months and a thorough analysis during the first phase of the project, the Milsped project team presented the results of the work together with LIS, and the management of Milsped decided to continue cooperating, that is, to have the project implemented.

Since January 2022, Milsped and LIS have been actively working on a detailed analysis of operating processes and the implementation of software through the setting up of basic functionalities, adaptation to the market and specific Serbian procedures. Also, they are analyzing the connection of Transport Manager with other apps that Milsped uses, based on which integration is done which will efficiently connect systems and facilitate work for operating sectors. The plan is for the operating sectors to be put into operation by organizational units and for the implementation for Milsped companies in Serbia to be completed in the first half of 2023.

To the end of increasing the productivity, that is, achieving the optimal management of the sales and logistics processes, Milsped has integrated the CRM component in its operations, in cooperation with the company Agilcon, the biggest regional partner for the implementation of Salesforce solutions. With its simple interface and configurable database, Salesforce guarantees ease of use and monitoring of all the processes necessary for the company. Guided by the idea that the current and future trends rely on top user experience, and considering that the needs of the clients and the market for CRM services are growing, we thereby wanted to enable the clients and the employees to have quick and operational channels of cooperation through the use of the best technology and efficient solutions.

Considering that, in all business elements, we pay special attention to process optimization, last year, we started implementing a Voice Picking solution in the storage sector. The project entails the use of the technology of voice commissioning with the software for order processing, setting up the operation model and reporting. The use of Voice Picking in commissioning enables the employees to have both hands free for setting aside goods and focusing better on the process itself. This is especially important considering that, with the expansion of the scope of business and the provision of a quick service, the demands regarding the quantities of the goods that need to be set aside in a short amount of time are also increasing.


On the other hand, there is a global increase in the percentage of the fluctuation of the employees, so it is necessary to train the new employees as soon as possible. The Voice Picking solutions enables better work conditions for the employees, reduces the number of commissioning errors, shortens the training time, accelerates the reaching of the defined norms by the new employees, that is, it increases productivity.

The ability of the integration of technological development with the company strategy and the market is of essential importance for decision making and the development of new products which are technologically and socially relevant and acceptable. However, in the course of business processes, it is important to also make each step safe and secure.

Milsped Group is part of the consortium of the leading European scientific-research and business entities which realize the ENSURESEC project, financed by the European Commission through the HORIZON 2020 fund, the biggest EU research and development program.

ENSURESEC is a social-technical solution uniquely designed to protect e-commerce operations in the digital market from cyber and physical threats. ENSURESEC deals with the whole range of modern e-commerce, from standard physical products which are bought online and delivered to the final users, to entirely virtual products or services delivered online.

In this project, Milsped has an especially important role through the provision of a full logistics support, which pertains to the transport and distribution of products which are the subject of e-commerce in all parts of the transport route. We are especially proud of the fact that Milsped Group is the only company from Serbia that is involved in the implementation and evaluation of such an important project, that is, the only company whose seat is outside the territory of the European Union.

Each of said innovative solutions requires a clearly defined purpose and goals, a detailed analysis of the planned project, that is, an efficient cooperation and engagement of the employees, with a strong dedication and vision of the management. Innovation is the only way of remaining competitive in the market and keeping the organization relevant, and for Milsped, as a relevant factor in logistics for decades now, innovation is an integral part of the business model.
