The international corporation specialized in agribusiness and innovative food solutions Al Dahra, which bought the property of the former Poljoprivredni Kombinat Beograd (PKB) three years ago, has announced that, in 2022, it will invest an additional EUR 25 million in the development of the company.

Of the planned investment, EUR 9 million will be invested in the modernization of the mechanization meant for crop farming, whereas the remaining amount will be directed at improving the production in other segments and the beginning of the works related to the project of irrigation, the announcement says.

With the announced investments for this year, the company plans to execute said project of irrigation and draining of soil worth EUR 80 million in the next four years. The most modern irrigation system will enable the arable land to be irrigated on time, considerably increasing the yields, it is added.

As the CEO of AL Dahra Serbia, Dusan Radicevic, points out, since the company acquired the property of the former PKB and started operating in Serbia, Al Dahra has invested around EUR 60 million, twice as much as was envisaged in the contract with the state.

– I am proud that, despite the very challenging period in the world market in the past years, we have managed to realize and exceed our own expectations. I am convinced that, with additional investments and more efficient business operations, we will contribute to our country’s taking the place it deserves within the European framework when it comes to not just the yields, but also innovations in agriculture and livestock farming – said Radicevic.

The investments of Al Dahra quickly led to record-breaking results, so last year, wheat yields amounted to 8.2 tons per hectare, of barley 8.9 tons and of rapeseed 4.4 tons. This year, the sowing of vegetables and other plants which are less present in these areas is planned, and the new factory for the processing of alfalfa is expected to employ 50 new workers. The company says that the planned export of alfalfa for this year amounts to EUR 20 million.
