Construction of New Terminal Building at Nis Airport Begins – Works to Be Completed in 2024, Aiming at 1.5 Million Passengers Annually
The foundation stone of the facility, whose value is slightly over EUR 11 million, was laid down by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, the director of the PE Airports of Serbia, Mihajlo Zdravkovic, and the mayor of Nis, Dragana Sotirovski.
– Our aim is to have a million and a half passengers a year. During our most successful period, in 2019, there were slightly over 400,000 passengers at the Nis Airport – Momirovic stated.
The director of the PE Airports of Serbia, Mihajlo Zdravkovic, said that the new terminal building would be finished in March 2024.
Zdravkovic stated that the old terminal building would be reconstructed as well and that, along with the new building, there would therefore be slightly over 10,000 square meters.
While the works are being done, he added, the Nis Airport will function normally. He said that, together with the competent ministry, there were also intensive efforts toward new projects at the Constantine the Great Airport.
– We are working on the project of repairing the runway, expanding the platform for the parking of aircraft from four to nine places, building a taxiway of 65,700 square meters and landscaping the entire complex – Zdravkovic stated.
