Free Zone Subotica to Expand to Senta

Following Kikinda, Free Zone Subotica could expand its operation to the area of the municipality of Senta as soon as this summer. The initiative came from the local self-government in Senta and the companies which operate in the territory of that municipality.

Last year, Free Zone Subotica placed first among the 15 free zones that are active in Serbia in terms of the realized turnover. The success did not go unnoticed, so at the municipality of Senta, they started considering the expansion of the operations of the Subotica zone to the territory of their municipality as well, in the same way it already functions in the territory of the municipality of Kikinda.

– We have defined the steps that they first have to make in Senta, which is to define the area, to survey the already present investors in Senta that are interested in operating in a free zone regime, to prepare the necessary documentation. On the other hand, sending requests to the Government of Serbia and the Ministry of Finance and preparing the studies is our job, but it’s not anything we haven’t done before, so I believe that we will very soon have Free Zone Subotica in the municipality of Senta – explains Ivan Saveljic, an expert associate of Free Zone Subotica.

There are currently 11 companies operating at Free Zone Subotica, and new investors are also expected to arrive this year. All those companies enjoy all the benefits provided by the free zone.

– They are helped by those benefits, such as being exempt from customs fees, the VAT, the import of raw materials, the import of machines, the import of secondary raw materials, being exempt from the VAT on energy sources. There’s also the kind staff on our part, at their service 24 hours a day, an accelerated customs procedure, where we have a customs terminal just for our users, where the customs procedure per import is done in 5 to 7 minutes, which considerably accelerates the procedure, especially when it comes to the export of finished products to the European Union – Saveljic adds.

The expansion of the capacities and the number of the commercial users, this time to the territory of the municipality of Senta, will further improve the operations of the Free Zone, the company announces.
