Food producers, thanks to the successful initiative of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, will have additional 10 months to change the product declaration, so instead of March 1, they will be need to fulfill that obligation by January 1, 2023.

Delay in the application of the new regulation will enable producers to adjust their business processes, as well as to use the existing packaging and thus save millions of euros, the SCC website states.

- At the request of producers from the food industry sector, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce sent an initiative to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management to delay the application of regulations governing the declaration, labeling and advertising of food. According to the latest amendments to the Ordinance on declaring, labeling and advertising of food, the obligation of producers is to change and adapt existing declarations to new provisions relating to the country of origin or country and place of origin of the main ingredient - said Saska Biorcevic, senior advisor at the Association for plant production and food industry of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
