Ringier Completes Acquisition of Axel Springer Companies in East Europe

Ringier Axel Springer d.o.o. Beograd has announced that the acquisition of the Axel Springer shares in Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is now completed, following approval by the national antitrust authorities.

The press release reminds that the acquisition was announced on July 28, 2021.

The holding companies in Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia will now operate under the Ringier brand. The approximately 90 local media titles (print and online) and 20 digital marketplaces, all of which are among the market leaders in their segments, will retain their current branding, the company says.

It is added that, with newspapers, magazines and news platforms, Ringier’s media units in Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia are well positioned and that Ringier will now run the leading digital job platforms in Hungary and the Baltic states – Profession.hu in Hungary, CV Keskus in the Baltic states, and in Slovakia, the digital markets of real estate Nehnutelnosti.sk and automobiles Autobazar.sk, which operate under United Classifieds.

In Serbia, Nekretnine.rs is now also part of Ringier’s extended marketplaces portfolio.

The press release adds that the information about the official change of the company’s name in Serbia will be announced subsequently.
