The digitized copy of Miroslav Gospel, the oldest preserved Serbian Cyrillic-texted manuscript, has been handed over to the minister of culture and information of Serbia, Maja Gojkovic.

Upon the reception of the digital material, where certain changes were detected, the Ministry of Culture and Information will form an independent expert commission which, at the end of the process, will determine the state of the manuscript. Based on this report, the next steps toward bringing back the document to the best possible condition and potential preventions from any kind of damage will be determined, and the public will be notified of everything on time, it is added.

The digitization of this valuable 12th century manuscript was done in a specially prepared room at the National Museum, so as to meet all the requirements in terms of climate and light, and the entire process was controlled by experts from the Audiovisual Archive of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

In the upcoming period, the next step, envisaged in the Agreement, is to work on uploading the digitized copy to the websites of the institutions which took part in the digitization process and to the Cultural Heritage Browser of the Republic of Serbia, so as to be available to the public. The images will be software-protected.
