The market of China is likely to become one of the five most important exporting destinations for Serbian products this year, and the cooperation in the ICT sector is growing too, according to the analysis by the economist Ivan Nikolic published in the latest MAT edition.

In an article about the potential effect on Serbia of the new vision of Chinese investments until 2025, published in Makroekonomske analize i trendovi (MAT), he says that China is already the second most important country when it comes to investments in Serbia and the third most important foreign trade partner, after Germany and Italy.

He estimated that China had extremely successfully intensified the economic cooperation with Serbia and that a part of the chronically problematic industrial capacities in mining and the production of basic metals had been activated.

He adds that the cooperation has been realized in capital project of renewing the road and rail infrastructure and energy facilities in Serbia.

The current plan of the development of Chine until 2025 is the second five-year cycle for the Belt and Road Initiative, which was officially launched in 2015, Nikolic reminds.

China points out that more bilateral agreements on the protection of investments and tax agreements should be signed with the hosts, so as to protect the interests of Chinese investors and avoid double taxation.
