The energy crisis which is affecting the world has pointed to the necessity of strategic reserves of energy sources. Aside from the “mandatory reserves of oil and its products” that the state is forming, in Serbia, from this year, oil companies also need to secure so-called “operating fuel reserves for four days”, put diesel and petrol with a percentage of biofuel on the market and implement new oil product tags that are in effect in the EU.

EU states have two-month and three-month reserves of raw oil and oil products. Serbia is gradually harmonizing with that directive too.

Along with the “mandatory reserves”, from this year, the “operating reserves” of oil companies which operate in the Serbian market will contribute to this too from this year: in the first six months, they must build or rent storage facilities, and from July, they need to have a stock of oil products for four days of their average consumption from last year.

Rasa Kojcic, the assistant minister of mining and energy, points out that, at the moment, the reserves of energy sources that are managed by the Ministry of Energy are sufficient for thirty and a half days, which is 30% more than last year.

– Our plan is for reserves to reach the level of 65 days of the average consumption in 2022 – Kojcic points out.

Another obligation is to put diesel and petrol with biofuel on the market. The percentage of the share of that pure fuel in the derivative product will be 0.5% until the end of 2022, and in 2024 it will need to increase to 1%.

– EU tags for the marking of the type of fuel, which also exist in Serbia’s standard, should be implemented, which entails the marking of the share of biofuel in petrol or diesel – says Tomislav Micovic, the secretary general of the Association of Oil Companies of Serbia.

Unique, Latin-script tags for all derivative products will replace the old ones on all automatic fuel devices.
