The company Greenco Ekopark from Novi Sad has been planning a project of the construction of a photovoltaic park, with a power of 80 MW, in the territory of the City of Kikinda in the area of the village of Sajan, on a land of around 100 ha for over two years now. For two years, the investor has been buying individual parcels for the purpose of forming a unified complex whole. Last year, the Feasibility Study was done by engineers of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.

This year, the City Administration of Kikinda supported the initiative for the preparation of the Detailed Regulation Plan for the construction of this solar project, which encompasses an even greater area, around 150 ha of infertile land of the lowest quality. The plan is to be prepared by the PE Zavod za urbanizam Vojvodine (Urban Planning Institute of Vojvodina) from Novi Sad and to be fully financed by the investor.

– The construction of one such solar park would have a strong impact on the development of Kikinda and put the entire area on the “green map of Europe”, with a planned investment of EUR 60 to 70 million. The decision on the preparation of this planning document and the preparation of reports on the strategic assessment of the environmental impact would put Kikinda among the first cities in Serbia that declare themselves as the most serious candidates for the realization of one of the “green” projects, and within the relatively recently adopted Law on Renewable Energy Sources – the local self-government announces.

Parallel with the preparation of the plan, the study of connecting to the transfer system and a part of the distribution system which is managed by the operator of the transfer system – Elektromreza Srbije, is to be prepared as well, at the investor’s expense.

The electricity produced from this complex, which will amount to around 120 GWh a year, will be meant for sale in the market of electrical energy.
