Talks About All-Encompassing Reform of Education System in Serbia Begin

At the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, talks about an all-encompassing reform of the education system of Serbia, as the key to the creation of a technologically advanced and economically successful society, have begun. This important question was opened based on the decision of the Social-Economic Council of the Republic of Serbia, adopted at the initiative of the Serbian Association of Employers.

Representatives of the Association said at the meeting that business people were determined to take active part in creating new study profiles necessary for the new labor market and a revision of the existing ones, but that certain state incentives were also expected for those employers that would be directly involved in the education process through providing working practice and training courses in a realistic environment, says the announcement of the Serbian Association of Employers.

The initiative of the Serbian Association of Employers, based on which the talks about the reform of the education system were launched, says that “the Republic of Serbia has been facing, for several years now, a discrepancy between the supply and the demand when it comes to labor force, with a large number of degrees that are not usable in practice, with a lack of certain professions, a lack of knowledge and skills, an insufficient mobility of labor force and an obsolete nomenclature of professions. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to harmonize the education programs with the needs of the labor market, otherwise they would act as a barrier to a quicker economic growth, new high-tech investments and the competitiveness of the local economy”.
