In November, in Subotica, the facility of the German company
Boysen will have its ceremonial opening event. This is the biggest greenfield investment in the city’s recent history, worth a total of EUR 65 million. This and all other investments in Subotica have helped attract increasingly more people to this city, which has been developing dynamically in the past years.
Thanks to the numerous investments of foreign companies, such as
Siemens, Continental, or
Swarovski, around 6,500 people have been employed at the Mali Bajmok Business Zone in Subotica in the past ten years and more. Not all the employees come from Subotica, as many workers have come to the city in the north of Vojvodina from other parts of Serbia. Subotica has therefore become an interesting place for living, the mayor, Stevan Bakic, says for RTV.
– We are aware ourselves that, currently, Subotica is at the very top among the cities of Serbia when it comes to the increase in the price of apartment floor area and apartment rent prices, which have also jumped. There’s a great inflow and interest of citizens from other parts of Serbia to come to live and work in this city due to the need for labor force and an increased interest in employment, because, for example, the Boysen facility is supposed to employ 507 workers by 2024 – points out the mayor of Subotica.
As announced earlier, the German company Boysen is
a leading company in the world when it comes to the production of exhaust systems for the automotive industry. It has production facilities on all continents.
Boysen is certainly the biggest investment in the recent history of Subotica, but there are other capital projects which are either being carried out already or are being planned in that city.
Close to RSD 11 billion will be set aside for the completion of the reconstruction of the National Theater, the reconstruction and modernization of the General Hospital and the City Stadium, the construction of the water and sewer systems and two waste water treatment facilities in Cantavir and Bajmok.
