Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania should soon be connected by rail, said Vojin Mitrovic, the minister of communications and transport of BiH.

– The precondition for this is the final agreement and the beginning of the realization of the project of the construction of the Mediterranean railway, which, along with the Adriatic-Ionian highway, would connect the countries of the region, from Greece, through Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, to Italy, within which one of the key segments is the revitalization of the railway that would connect Mostar (Sarajevo) and Podgorica, that is, the stretch from Capljina to Niksic – Mitrovic said for Avaz.

Mitrovic is on a visit to Montenegro, where he will have a range of meetings about this topic.

– It’s difficult to project the beginning of the works, but we are now commencing more intensive talks on the construction of the railway from Capljina to Niksic. A study has been prepared, and there’s an interest from the three states. What’s certain is that this rail route will contribute to the development of BiH. It is a very important project, which we will discuss with our partners in Montenegro – minister Mitrovic said for Avaz.
