Development of Vinca Landfill Entails Five Small Projects, Two of Which are Already Finished – Citizens of Belgrade Also to Get Heating and Electrical Energy from Waste



She added that the current unsanitary landfill – disposal site “was one of the 50 biggest (environmental) problems in the world and the second biggest problem on the European continent”.
According to her, the project of the development of the sanitary landfill entails five small projects, two of which are already completed: the closing of the old landfill, which was completed on August 2, and the opening of a landfill for the disposal and recycling of construction waste, which was completed on August 18.
– The third component is the construction of a power plant for the incineration of municipal waste, which will be completed in November 2022. Beginning with the next heating season, we will have a total of 10% of the total heating energy from waste in Belgrade, whereas 5% of the electrical energy will come from waste – Brnabic said.
She added that the construction of a power plant that would turn landfill gas into electrical energy was envisaged, and that the fifth project was the construction of a waste water treatment facility.
