More and more German companies inquire about investments in Serbia
- We notice an increase in inquiries from German companies that are looking for information and are researching the market in Serbia, a fact confirmed by the Development Agency of Serbia and we have very good cooperation with them - Aletter said for TV Tanjug.
He added that the results will only be visible in the upcoming period, considering that it takes at least two years to make a decision on starting production abroad.
Aletter said that AHK Serbia conducted a survey with German companies in May, which showed that 90% of the surveyed companies would invest in Serbia again, as well as that they see the provision of skilled labor as a challenge.
He emphasized that Serbia made a very important step by introducing dual education according to the German and Austrian models two years ago.
Asked whether we should be afraid of Angel Merkel's retirement or if our two economies are already so connected that this political aspect is less important, Aletter said that, nevertheless, the political relations between the two countries are essential, as well as interstate agreements that facilitate trade and economic.
He says that there are around 400 German companies in Serbia employing 70,000 people, and that the total German investments amount to EUR 3.1 billion.
- There needs to be stability and interstate agreements that enable free trade. Although Merkel will not be the head of the German government in the future, there are important agreements at the bilateral level and in the political sphere, which are very important for German investors. We keep them informed. And in the long run, nothing will change there - stated Aletter.
He pointed out that it is important for Serbia to position itself as a reliable partner.
