UGS Nezavisnost: Ministry of Finance proposes minimum wage of RSD 35,012, trade unions ask for RSD 39,000
He told Beta that representatives of the Ministry of Finance had proposed for the minimum wage to be raised from RSD 30,900 to RSD 35,012, that is, by 9.4%, but without any concrete propositions regarding tax exemptions that the employers had requested.
A month ago, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the minimum wage for 2022 would be RSD 35,012.
– The representatives of the Ministry of Finance have proposed for the monthly minimum wage for next year to be RSD 35,012, but they made no propositions for concrete tax exemptions that the employers are asking for – Ristic said.
The trade unions, UGS Nezavisnost and the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia (SSSS), he said, agree that the non-taxable principal amount, which is at RSD 18,300 this year, should be increased, but there is no agreement about having health and social insurance contributions lowered, because that would decrease the inflow into those funds, jeopardizing their operations.
Ristic said that the employers refused to accept any kind of an increase of the minimum wage unless it is compensated for by a reduction of tax charges, whereby the cost would be handled by the state.
