Big Investment Plans in Medvedja – New Industrial Zone to be Formed Near Sijarinska Banja, Orthodox Camp to be Built, Two Companies Looking to Open New Facilities

The Municipality of Medvedja has prepared a range of important projects for the upcoming period, which should contribute to the development of this area in the south of Serbia. The plans that are currently being carried out or are being prepared entail the development of tourism in Sijarinska Banja, but also the founding of a new industrial zone with the aim of attracting new investments, the president of the Municipality of Medvedja, Nebojsa Arsic, reveals for eKapija.

According to him, one of the directions of the development of the municipality is to upgrade the tourist offer, which will be contributed to by the already agreed construction of the road through Radan Planina, which is a very important infrastructure project.

– A wellness and spa center is being built in the spa, where the second phase of the construction, for which the procurement procedure has already opened, will start soon. Also, we are working in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy on completing the Roman bath, which will have 9 tubs with mineral water, which can improve our health tourism offer – Arsic says for our portal.

He adds that the plan is for a new, modern facility for the accommodation of the guests of Sijarinska Banja to be built for the Roman bath. Also, in order to improve the tourism offer, the plan is to build new health tracks near the Olympic pool by the river.

The plans for Sijarinska Banja do not only concern the completion of the existing projects, but also the construction of new features. According to Arsic, the Hilandar Monastery plans to build an Orthodox camp here and concrete steps have already been taken.

– The Hilandar Monastery has donated the purchase from bankruptcy of four villas in the area of Sijarinska Banja which have already been reconstructed, and there’s a plan to build another two villas where the Orthodox camp will be located – Arsic says.

The president of the Municipality of Medvedja points out that, in addition to the development of tourism, there are also plans to attract new investors, which is why a new industrial zone is to be built close to Sijarinska Banja.

– At the Medvedja limit, toward Sijarinska Banja, on 5 hectares, the general regulation plan will be changed for the area where the industrial zone is to be formed. There’s already an approval by the Ministry of Justice for this project, so the preparation of the documentation is expected soon – Arsic reveals for eKapija and adds that two factories, Ruma Plast and Milenium Sistemi, have already expressed an interest in investing in Medvedja.
