French partners are also interested in the “Castles of Serbia” project, which entails the reconstruction of castles and villas throughout Serbia, stated the minister of culture and information, Maja Gojkovic, as announced by the government.

– The recommendation of French experts, with whom consultations have been carried out, is for the number of facilities to be reduced to 25 and for them to be the ones that are the best prepared for restoration, reconstruction and the finding of the true purpose that would complement the cultural content and the tourist offer. They also recommend the finding of the best and the most efficient model for this – she said.

There are propositions for a public-private partnership, which has turned out to be a good model in the nearest European neighborhood, Gojkovic said and added that the Neuhausen castle in the municipality of Nova Crnja was one of the best, most prestigious and best-preserved castles.

She also reminded that, according to a survey that was done in Serbia, there were 118 facilities which belong to the category of castles, villas and vacation houses and specified that the project would be carried out with participation of the Institute for Protection of Monuments of the Republic of Serbia and the Institute for Protection of Monuments of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
