The agreement on the designing of the second line of the Belgrade subway will be signed by the end of this week with the French company Egis, according to the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic. He told Tanjug that the construction of the second line would begin after the first one and that it would be completed in 2030.

He announced that the contest for the designing of the first 16 stations of the subway system on the first subway line would open in September and clarified that it would be an architectural contest prepared in cooperation with the Association of Belgrade Architects.

According to the plan, the construction of the Belgrade subway will begin in November with the works on the future depot in Makisko Polje.

The first line will go from Zeleznik to Mirijevo and be completed in 2028, whereas the works on the second line, from Zemun to Mirijevo, will be finished by 2030.

Each line will have 21 stations.
