A mysterious sand beach was the center of attention in Greece’s tourist campaign ad for 2020 and many wanted to know where it was located.

The beach drew attention thanks to its unusual protrusion into the sea, which resembles Zlatni Rt in Croatia. This caused many to speculate that the video had not been shot in Greece, whereas others tried to guess the location.

The mysterious beach with crystal clear water and golden sand remained under a veil of mystery and the authorities didn’t want to reveal immediately where the ad had been shot. Still, local residents easily recognized that it was Megali Ammos, in the south of the Evia island, near a small place called Marmari, Protothema reports.

As writes, Megali Ammos is a beach that is becoming smaller and smaller with each passing year due to strong winds. That’s what makes this destination ideal for surfers, because strong winds create excellent water currents and waves, which are ideal for said sport. The water here is frequently cooler than in other parts of Greece, but is nearly always crystal clear.

Megali Ammos is located 155 km away from Halkida, about a two-hours’ drive. It can also be reached by boat from Rafina in an hour and ten minutes.

Close to Megali Ammos is the small beach Zastani, which is protected from the wind and definitely worth visiting.
