The company ZF has invested EUR 35.6 million in the research and development (R&D) center in Pancevo and intends to keep investing so that it would become an even more important part of our future, Otmar Scharrer, Senior Vice President R&D E-Mobility, ZF, said today in Pancevo.

– We have over 1,000 employees here and I want to thank everyone for the success we’ve achieved. We already have an important role in the market as ZF and we have achieved a lot already. We are now inviting you to make it even better, to work as hard as possible for the future of the E-Mobility division – Scharrer said at the ceremony which marked the official opening of the R&D center of ZF Srbija.

At this center, 200 engineers from Germany and Serbia work to develop new solutions for hybrid and electric vehicles produced by Mercedes, BMW and Volvo.

The managing director of ZF Srbija, Milan Grujic, added that he was proud of what was done in Pancevo in only three years from the founding of that branch of ZF and added that ZF Srbija represented the most modern trend in modern automotive industry.

The ambassador of Germany to Serbia, Thomas Schieb, praised ZF for being able to build an impressive development center in a short amount of time under the conditions of the pandemic.

– This proves that Serbia has the capability to provide the possibilities in the R&D field which show that e-mobility is the future – Schieb said.

The German ambassador said that, in the first six months of 2021 alone, over 727,000 electric vehicles were sold in Germany.

– Serbia has qualified experts who will work on those projects and who will transfer their knowledge further to the institution where dual education is carried out and to faculties. The products developed here will carry the “Made in Serbia” tag and I hope that more companies from Germany would come and establish business relations with this company, which would help the economic development of Serbia – the ambassador stated.
