At the recently completed Balkans International Wine Competition – BIWC, among more than 900 wines, organic winery Plavinci from the Belgrade municipality of Grocka won the “Best Organic Wine Trophy” for its white organic wine Selena, made of the Tamjanika grape variety, as announced by the Association of Winemakers and Winegrowers of Serbia.

The decision on who the Big Trophy goes to in each category is made by a special panel, consisting of the carriers of the “Master of Wine” title: Konstantinos Lazarakis (Greece), Caroline Gilby (Great Britain), Rod Smith (France) and Andreas Wickhoff (Austria). Master of Wine is the most prestigious wine rating title in the world, which makes this trophy extremely significant.

The Plavinci winery is the first certified organic winery in Serbia.
