Due to environmental protection, the Jama mine in Bor, operated by Zijin, has been closed, said Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Mining and Energy, adding that the company must complete the new wastewater treatment plant by April 30 to protect the Pek River from pollution.

Mihajlovic appeared on "Uranak" on TV K1 and said that the ministries of energy and environment work together, which was not the case before, as well as that inspections are on the ground day and night, both on watercourses and in mines.

- The inspection prohibited them from doing anything without the approval of the Ministry of Mining and Energy. That means that they should have certificates from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, as well as that they must complete certain projects that they are already working on, and which they have not finished yet - stated Mihajlovic.

When asked why the state did not react earlier, Mihajlovic points out that it was not simple, but that the law must be respected.

At the end of March, the appointed inspectors controlled the work of the company Zijin Copper and ordered the suspension of all activities on the construction of three ventilation and service shafts, as well as the low pit in the Jama mine in Bor.
