Fadil Novalic, Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met with the Mayor of Bihac, Suhret Fazlic, on Friday, April 8 and confirmed that KM 25 million had been provided for the construction of Bihac Airport this year.

Novalic pointed out that he agreed to start the construction phase of the airport this year.

- About KM 10 million have been set aside for the construction phase so far, and a budget of additional KM 25 million has been secured this year. Specifically, at the meeting we discussed the spending program for these funds, i.e. the timeframe needed for the implementation of our planned moves within the mentioned budget this year.

Novalic also pointed out that the construction of a 1,200-meter runway should begin this year, as well as the airport building, lights, radar monitoring, an elevator for the approaching planes and various other technical things.

- The total value of the project of the Bihac airport is around KM 130 million, and with this year's funds we will already reach the figure of around KM 35 million provided by the Government of the Federation of BiH - he pointed out.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the possibility of including the concessionaire, not so much because of the necessary money, but because of the experience and the possibility of tourist and business promotion of both the airport and the Una-Sana Canton.

Suhret Fazlic, the mayor of Bihac, reminded of the importance of such a project for the entire Una-Sana Canton. Also, the mayor is convinced of the success of this project.

- We have already done the project documentation, access road, test runway and performed a good part of the land expropriation, so I am really optimistic about the realization of perhaps the biggest project ever for Una-Sana Canton - he said.

Fazlic concluded that the works will start soon, adding that an aeronautical study is already underway.
