The Apatin Brewer starts production of Staropramen, the first Czech beer that will be produced in Serbia, and the investment is worth EUR 5m.

Staropramen, with the tradition of quality over 130 years long, will be produced in the Apatin Brewer by the license of Pivovara Staropramen from Prague - it was said today (June 17, 2010) at the beer tasting ceremony in Apatin.

The first 200,000 liters of Staropramen will appear in stores next week, and the plan is that the new trademark be exported in the future.

In addition to that investment, the Apatin Brewer will invest additional EUR 10m in production and about EUR 13m in other business activities in 2010, it was said at the ceremony.

What was also mentioned is the information that the Apatin Brewer sold total of about 3.2 billion liters of beer in 2009, 2.6 billion of which were distributed to the market of Serbia, while the rest was exported.

The beer tasting ceremony was attended by Hana Hubačkova, the Ambassador of Czech Republic to Serbia.

By the way, the Apatin Brewer was taken over in 2003 by global brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev, which became a part of regional brewing group StarBev in December 2009. StarBev was formed by investment company CVC Capital Partners.
