Privatization of 75% of Kosovo's Postal and Telecommunications Company soon
The Government of Kosovo made the decision yesterday (June 16, 2010) on privatization of 75% of shares of the Kosovo Postal and Telecommunications Company (PTK).
Supporting the strategy for the share of private sector in PTK, the Government of Kosovo decided to finish the privatization process in PTK by the end of this year.
Kosovo`s Prime Minister Hashim Tachi said at the meeting that the Government was determined to create a competition in the free market.
- We as the Government guarantee that the process (privatization) will be fully transparent and in accordance with international standards. PTK will be privatized, but the citizens of Kosovo will be the owners of 25% of the company`s shares. Although we are the last in the region to enter this process, I am sure that we will manage to finish it successfully- said Tachi.
The Inter-ministry task force of the Kosovo Government suggested the privatization having in mind the positions of participants in the investors conference on PTK.
Final decision on privatization of PTK will be made by the Parliament of Kosovo where the ruling parties have the necessary majority of votes.
