Serbian Economy Minister Andjelka Atanaskovic invited investors from Egypt to invest in Serbia during her recent meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Serbia Amr Aljowaily.

On that occasion, Atanaskovic emphasized that the traditionally good relations between Serbia and Egypt were a good foundation for the improvement of economic cooperation, which could be achieved through a process of privatization and all forms of direct investments, the Government of Serbia announced.

An exchange of experiences between economy experts from the two countries, which would be organized directly before the session of the Mixed Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Between Serbia and Egypt, planned for June 2021, was proposed at the meeting.

– An exchange of experiences between the two countries’ experts will be of great importance, and once the conditions are met, when the COVID-19 epidemic ends, we will organize a business forum where business people from Serbia and Egypt will be able to learn about and consider the potential cooperation – Atanaskovic said.

Ambassador Aljowaily expressed his desire for the business entities of the Balkans countries to be partners in the development of the African continent.

– I am convinced that there’s great potential for improving the cooperation in various fields – the ambassador underlined.

He pointed to the possibility provided by the African market when it comes to the export of Serbian products and services and the opportunities provided by the African Continental Free Trade Zone, which has been a single market for 1.3 billion people on the continent since its establishment on January 1, 2021.

– There is a great possibility in increasing the trade and establishing a better cooperation in infrastructure projects, IT, food industry, furniture manufacture, as well as connecting small and medium enterprises – the Egyptian ambassador concluded.
