The representatives of the Serbian Government and the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed the Agreement yesterday (June 8, 2010) in Belgrade on continuation of funding of the School Modernization Programme in Serbia with EUR 100m. Half of that money will be provided by the Serbian Government, while the rest will be provided from the EIB loan.

That money is intended for improvement of the quality of learning conditions for students at all levels, construction of new schools, elimination of work in three shifts in our educational institutions, as well as for infrastructure works in the education sector all over the Country.

The agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister of Education Zarko Obradovic who announced on that occasion that, upon the ratification of that agreement in the Parliament of Serbia, construction and equipping of schools should commence in late June or early July, as well as that part of the money, that is, EUR 3m, would be spent on the Educational Strategy.
