At a meeting between a Russian and a Serbian delegation in Belgrade, led by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, there was discussion about the possibility of Russian companies expanding their business in Belgrade and investing in the transportation infrastructure of the Serbian capital.

This was stated after the meeting by Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic, who reminded that Lukoil and NIS, which is Russian-owned, had been long-present in the Serbian market. He added that the possibility of them expanding their business had been discussed at the meeting.

– We also talked about them potentially investing in the transportation infrastructure of Belgrade. We notified them that, parallel with the Belgrade Subway, w would also launch a project of public-private partnership for BG Voz – Vesic said.

He added that it was an investment of EUR 800-900 million and that it entailed the construction of over 110 kilometers of a new railway and the purchase of new rail vehicles.

– As a city rail system, BG Voz should complement the subway. It will make for a single system with the subway, the construction of which starts this year – Vesic said.

He says that they also talked about the possibility of Belgrade buying Russian trams, but also trolleys.

Vesic invited Russian companies to invest in Belgrade and added that they were welcome to the city.
