The delegation of Russian experts that visited Serbia estimated that there were technological conditions for the first phase of the production of the Sputnik V vaccine in Serbia, the government announced.

The minister without a portfolio in charge of innovations and technological development at the Government of Serbia, Nenad Popovic, said after the meeting of the Serbian and the Russian delegations at the Palace of Serbia that the first phase of the production of the vaccine entailed the transport of the substance necessary for the production of the vaccine, the filling, the packaging and the distribution.

– That phase, according to the estimates of the Russian experts, would last for two to three months, and the full cycle of production should take nine to ten months – Popovic said.

According to him, Serbia would thereby be the first country in Europe that would produce the vaccine, and seven European countries, including Germany, Austria and Hungary, have expressed an intent to urgently start the production themselves.
