Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated today that he would ask the government to provide state aid for mitigating the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic to large companies as well.

After taking part in the video-summit organized by China and the 17 countries of the Central and Eastern Europe, he told the press that the state aid package would be presented on Thursday or Friday and that his proposition was for the aid to also be provided to large companies, employing over 500 people, in addition to small and medium companies.

– Not only banks and financial institutions will be able to get help – Vucic said.

He added that his proposition was for the new, third package, to once again include aid to travel agencies, tourist guides and hotel owners.

– The tourist sector would thereby get 40% more help than other sectors – Vucic said.

Regarding the economic cooperation of Serbia with China, he pointed out that the trade between the two countries was growing and that the export of goods from Serbia to China had increased 50 times compared to 2010.

He reminded that two Chinese-owned companies were among the biggest exporters from Serbia and that an agreement was signed not long before with the Chinese company CRBC on the construction of sewer systems and solid waste disposal facilities in 65 local self-governments in Serbia, a job worth EUR 3.2 billion.
