Serbian Economy Minister Andjelka Atanaskovic and German Ambassador to Serbia Thomas Schieb discussed the improvement of bilateral economic cooperation of the two countries, which, they pointed out, is already at a high level, the Ministry of Economy announced.
The minister emphasized the possibility of improving the relations in establishing supply chains among Serbian companies, since German companies are moving their production from geographically remote countries to Europe due to the pandemic.
– For a long number of years, Germany has been among the leading economic partners of Serbia, and German companies are present in all vital sectors of the Serbian economy – Atanaskovic said and pointed out that the total trade as of November 2020 had amounted to EUR 4.8 billion.
Atanaskovic also mentioned the excellent cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of Serbia and the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW) and emphasized that she expected the cooperation to continue in the future.
Ambassador Schieb emphasized that, in the preceding year, despite the pandemic, the German-Serbian economic relations had continued to develop.
– Germany is the biggest bilateral trade partner of Serbia, and German companies continue investing in Serbia. Germany will continue supporting Serbia in its efforts to join the EU, which pertains to important areas which need to be reformed and the further economic integration – Schieb said.
