The Municipality of Crna Trava, the smallest municipality in the south of Serbia, is mostly mentioned in the media in the context of poverty and young people moving out of it, but now, according to the vice president of the municipality, Sveta Tosic, this negative trend might start turning around. Tosic announced for eKapija that, in order to prevent people from moving out, a residential building with 15 apartments meant for young married couples with children would be raised. He also adds that the plan is to launch production activities in those factories.

– The plan is to open a contest for finding strategic partners for the launching of the production at the wood processing factory in Crna Trava and the health food facility in Gradska – Tosic says for our portal.

According to him, a facility of the clothing factory Yumco and the Water Factory and Sheep Farm Surik Invest operate in the territory of the municipality, so the opening of new facilities would substantially contribute to the creation of new jobs.

– The priority for 2021 is the construction of a residential building, and the construction of a new cultural center in Preslap and the completion of the sewer system in Crna Trava are planned as well – he says.

Tosic adds that, in cooperation with Elektroprivreda, the continuation of the reconstruction of the low-voltage network in local communities and the installation of street lighting where necessary are planned as well.

– We also plan to continue cooperating with the PE Roads of Serbia on the construction of II B-grade state road to the Bulgarian border on the section from Sastav Reka to Strezimirovci, as well as II A-grade state road between Del and Predejane.

Among the infrastructural investments initiated by the municipality in 2020, Tosic highlights the development of the green market and the construction of the Parish Home.

– Another important investment is the renovation of the municipal library Sestre Stojanovic, where the roof has been repaired, the heating system has been reconstructed and the joinery has been replaced – our interviewee says.
