Komercijalna Banka to Become Another Seat of NLB Group

The aim is for Komercijalna Banka to grow fast so that it would become a systemic player in the region, says Blaz Borodnjak, the president of the NLB Group, which has become owner of the Serbian Komercijalna Banka.

He says that Komercijalna Banka will become practically another seat of NLB Group, because they want to built the center of competences for the development of common platform for all the daughter banks within the group there.

In an interview for Novosti, Borodnjak says that the long-term goal is for the bank to be a true strategic partner to citizens and entrepreneurs in Serbia, the kind that honestly cares about the quality of life.

– We are coming from the region and, in that sense, this is foreign investment that is nevertheless local in nature – Borodnjak said and added that, with the acquisition of Komercijalna Banka, the group would become one of the top three in Serbia.

He said that NLB Group had made a big step forward when it comes to digitization in Slovenia, that the analysis had shown that Komercijalna Banka, as a reputable brand, had a lot of knowledge and an honest interest in the development of modern business.

When asked about what will happen to the operations of Komercijalna Banka in B&H and Montenegro and whether the employees should be worried, Borodnjak said that the plan was to integrate the sister bank in all the countries.

– All those who work responsibly will have an opportunity to prove themselves – Borodnjak said and added that it was too soon to talk about a definite number of the employees, but also that digitization changed banks fundamentally.

– In Slovenia, we had 4,200 employees, and in several years, we will have 2,100. On the other hand, there will be new opportunities, new profiles, new knowledge – Borodnjak says.

He said that modern banks were practically becoming technological companies, that various models, tools, information solutions, electronic channels were being opened and that new possibilities were being created.

He says that Serbia as a country had an advantage thanks to the Digital Serbia project and that it was in Serbia that modern profiles could be found that are necessary for the digital transformation of the entire NLB Group.

He said that the bank in Serbia would not change its name and that the name NLB Komercijalna Banka sounded very good.
