IKEA Ready to Start Building Trade Center AVA Shopping Park and Create 400 New Jobs
With this investment, worth over EUR 50 million, IKEA will employ an additional 400 people in Serbia, and the laying of the foundation stone is planned for early 2021, the press release says.
– We are very satisfied that, despite the difficult circumstances caused by the pandemic, we have managed to push through with what we believe is an important investment for the City of Belgrade and the local community. We have recently signed an agreement with IT Tel & Vila Grad, a local company, which will be the main contractor, with over 800 hired workers. We hope that our Serbian partners, which have been an important support to the project from the beginning, will also complete the procedure about the building permit, so that the works can start as soon as possible – said Branko Mihajlov, the head manager of the project.
AVA Shopping Park, previously known as the Belgrade Trade Center or the Belgrade Retail Park, will take up over 30,000 square meters. In several retail outlets, it will gather famous world brands from fields such as fashion, sports and technology.
An additional connection will link the complex with the highway, and the plan is for access from the Belgrade bypass route to be made possible too.
