Reconstruction, Extension and Construction of New Facilities of Health Center in Zajecar Planned – Works Worth EUR 40 Million

The reconstruction and extension of the Pediatrics Department (with the extension of the Pediatrics Dispensary) of the Zajecar Hospital will be carried out as part of the first phase of the reconstruction of the health center, along with the reconstruction of the gerontology center, the Office for Public Investment Management told eKapija. They add that the opening of a public procurement procedure will depend on the funds in the state budget.

– The opening of a public procurement procedure for the works on this facility depends on the liquidity of the budget of the Republic of Serbia, so at the moment we are not able to specify the date – the Office says.

Let us remind that, recently, the mayor of Zajecar, Bosko Nicic, announced on the city’s website that the total value of the complete reconstruction, extension and construction of the facilities of the Health Center Zajecar was estimated at around EUR 40 million (RSD 4,750,000,000), without the equipment.

The project-technical documentation envisages the replacement of all installations, the implementation of a system of medical gases in the entire facility and the replacement in the smaller section where it existed, the implementation of a an air-conditioning system, the replacement of all floorings and coverings in the facility, the replacement of the entire interior and exterior joinery, the improvement of the energy efficiency of the façade walls through the installations of a modern ventilating façade, the replacement of the roof covering with all thermal insulation layers, the improvement of energy efficiency through the implementation of LED lighting and other energy-saving devices, the landscaping around the facility and the extension.

Within this reconstructed and extended department, there will be four units with special entrances: a section for school children, a section for preschool children, a counseling section for school children and a counseling section for preschool children.

All four units, with special entrances, will have common rooms for the employees in the middle, whereas the patients will be fully separated.

The current Pediatrics Department is to be extended horizontally from the loft and the area of the lower floors is to increase.

According to the new design, along with new medical and other rooms, the facility should also get a grand hall with a new kitchen, sanitary blocks and a large balcony.

The procedure is currently in the phase of the issuing of the construction permit, and the Office has given its approval. It is estimated that the value of this reconstruction and extension will be around RSD 320 million.

Construction of gerontology center

Another project within the reconstruction of the entire Health Center of Zajecar as part of the Serbia 2020-2025 plan, according to Nicic, is the construction of the new Gerontology Center within the Health Center of Zajecar, of 8,900 m2, the estimated value of which is RSD 700 million.

The Gerontology Center is designed as a monolithic ring that levitates above the ground floor. It is to feature a covered area (a canopied plaza) and outdoor areas (an atrium and an internal yard), a space for joint activities, a dining room, a distributive kitchen, administrative rooms, a medical block, accommodation units on the ground floor, a warehouse of medical devices and materials and an inventory storage area, an installation substation, a pantry and a basement.

The first two upper floors will feature rooms with one or two beds for the users, outpatient clinics for physical and occupational therapy, a wardrobe and a sanitary block for the medical staff.
