Another foreign investment in Novi Sad is likely, that of the Japanese company Nidec, which produces electric motors for various purposes, said the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic. He says that the arrival of the German company Continental is expected too. In a conversation with the mayors of Nis and Belgrade, broadcast on RTV, Vucevic talked about the results achieved in 2020 and the plans for the next year.

– Novi Sad is a candidate, along with another two European cities that Nidec is interested in – Vucevic said and added that the final decision should be made in early 2021.

– The fact that we had the fifth or the sixth meeting with the company’s representatives last Friday and that we are already discussing the technical details tells me that they are seriously considering Novi Sad – Vucevic said and added that economic magazines in Japan defined the investment in the amounts of up to USD 2 billion.

He adds that they are considering the purchase of 25 hectares of land in the Industrial Zone North 4 in Novi Sad.

Vucevic is also convinced that the German Continental is also arriving, with a new factory to be built not far from Kac, next to the future Novi Sad-Zrenjanin highway.

According to him, despite the pandemic, there are no halts when it comes to the construction of the chocolate factory of the Swiss Barry Callebaut, which will be completed by spring.

The next year, he says, will be marked by the preparations for the construction of the fourth bridge on the Danube, which has been declared a project of national importance.

– Although the designation of Novi Sad as the European Culture Capital was moved for the next year due to coronavirus, according to the decision of the European Parliament, that doesn’t mean that the city will not be preparing for 2022 – Vucevic said and announced the opening of the first city concert hall. The opening event, Stefan Milenkovic’s concert, is scheduled for the Orthodox New Year, January 13.
