The Ministry of Culture and Information has announced that the Government of Serbia has decided for the Nikola Tesla Museum to be moved to the building of the Thermal Power Plant “Snaga i svetlost” (“Power and Light”) in Belgrade.

– This extremely important cultural institution, which holds the largest collection of documents about Nikola Tesla’s life and work, will thereby get adequate space in order to keep promoting the legacy of one of the greatest minds of the 20th century – the press release says.

The TPP “Snaga i svetlost” building was raised between 1930 and 1932 in line with the project of the Swiss Society for Electrification and Traffic from Basel. It consists of a TPP building, a portal crane with an axle journal, a pumping station and a filtering facility. It is designated as a cultural monument.

The movable cultural goods related to the life and work of Nikola Tesla, which comprise the Museum’s fund, are to be sorted in a way that enables a proper execution of the proscribed tasks of the protection of cultural goods and a modern exhibition of museum collections.

These are collections of items from the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical technology, small technical items, personal belongings of Nikola Tesla, visual artworks and applied art from Nikola Tesla’s legacy, memorial objects, as well as visual artworks and applied art belonging to the Nikola Tesla Museum.

On May 21, 2020, the Nikola Tesla Museum became a state cultural institution, the press release says.
