The first draft of the amendments to the Law on Simplified Hiring for Seasonal Jobs, whereby the registration model that has been successfully implemented in agriculture would be expanded to new sectors, could be ready by February and could start being implemented in mid-2021.

This was announced at the first session of the government’s inter-sector working group for the preparation of this regulation, the NALED announced today.

The working group will consider the possibility of employers being able to register seasonal and temporary workers in construction, tourism, hospitality, house jobs and creative industries, where there’s a considerable presence of illegal employment, under a simplified electronic procedure, the press release says.

– The numbers show how successful the reform that we have carried out is. In the first year of the implementation of the electronic system of registration of seasonal workers in agriculture, the number of registered seasonal workers grew from 3,500 to slightly over 26,600. For the 820,000 days of employment, taxes and contributions in the amount of RSD 250 million were paid for them, and 311 employers used the new system – said Serbian Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Darija Kisic Tepavcevic.

As she added, the Government of Serbia, having achieved good results, recognized the need to expand the scope of the reform of seasonal employment to the sectors of construction, tourism and hospitality and house jobs.
