The Ministry of Culture and Information of Serbia has announced that the online presentation of Serbia’s cultural heritage has begun at the Google Arts and Culture platform.
The press release says that, at said platform, through audio-visual materials, seven exhibitions have been presented so far, showcasing the Studenica Monastery, the Gallery of Matica Srpska, the Synagogue in Subotica, the Smederevo Fortress, Ferenc Raichle’s residential palace, the Ram Fortress and the Church of the Monastery of Pokajnica.
In the upcoming period, the ministry plans, in partnership with Google Arts and Culture, to increase the number of locations of remarkable importance, which will be included on the platform, according to the Government of Serbia’s website.
Google Arts and Culture is an online platform through which the public has the opportunity to access the content in high resolution, images and videos of artworks and cultural heritage, collected by cultural institutions and associates worldwide.
The project enables everyone with internet access to view, whenever they want to, the collections and exhibitions at the museums they have no opportunity to visit in person.
Also, professors and students are able to organize virtual trips and online talks with museum experts from other cultural organizations.
This kind of an online resource can help with research, preparation of academic papers and multidisciplinary and inter-institutional education, thanks to the availability of exclusive material to people worldwide.
