NBS' Council makes decision on Jelašić's resignation on April 6th
(Radovan Jelašić)
The Council of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) should adopt the Governor Radovan Jelašić's letter of resignation on April 6th.
Jelašić submitted the irrevocable letter of resignation on March 23rd for, as he said, personal reasons, but he promised to remain at that position until the new Governor is appointed.
Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković announced earlier that the procedure for selection of candidates for new Governor would last for about two months. According to the media, the most serious candidate for the new Governor is Dr. Dejan Šoškić, the President of the NBS' Council.
Šoškić did not want to give any comment on such speculations.
The Governor is formally suggested to the Parliament by its Board of Finance.
Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković announced that the new Law on NBS would be proposed at the same time when the new Governor is appointed.
The draft of the new Law on NBS partially reduces the Governor's autonomy.
