Cable car in Kopaonik could be finished by winter – Rivalry with Zlatibor
The construction of 3,700 m cable car system with a capacity of 1,600 passengers per hour, started this summer. Serbia took out a EUR 27 million loan from the European Investment Bank for this investment.
– This is the biggest investment in tourism sector in the last few years and it will revive Kopaonik and the surrounding villages and the rest of the region too, Ljaljic said during his visit to the construction site.
– Launching the cable car will mark a new beginning for the economy and the development or rural tourism. It will further unload the traffic and it will only take 13 mins from Brzece to Kopaonik , said Ljajic and added that Kopaonik will see the rise in the number of tourist during summer season too.
The Minister stated that out of the total number of tourist in Kopaonik, only 16% visited during summer, while the number of Zlatibor tourist was 30% out of total visitors.
Ljajic added that classification of 5,000 beds and several hotels in Kopaonik was still pending.
