MIHAJLOVIC: Ivanka Trump's visit would be significant

The Minister of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic said today that the agreement that the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic signed in Washington was of great importance for country's economy and further improvement of bilateral relationship with the USA.

– American Development Investment Agency visited Serbia back in February when we discussed large infrastructural projects that are a part of this economic agreement, namely the Nis-Merdare-Pristina highway and railway to Pristina. The worth of investment is EUR 3.7 billion. If we add the Belgrade-Nis high-speed railway to that, the investment worth will exceed EUR 5.5 billion.

Mihajlovic reminded that so far USA has invested one billion dollars in Serbia which enabled the employment of over 20,000 people.

– Everyone invests in Serbia nowadays – we receive European, Chinese, Russian and American investments. These investments are billions of euros worth and everyone wants to do business here, she said.

Mihajlovic, who is also the head of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality , said that the women in Serbia are having a harder time, whether they are participating in political, economic or social spheres and that it was important to create opportunity for them to attain decision-making positions.

She also emphasized the need to help women entrepreneurs and that Ivanka Trump's visit to Serbia would prove significant.

– One of the pillars of American Development Investment Agency is the support to women entrepreneurs. Any and all help and support would mean a lot to us so we could help women start their own business and also help them maintain it when challenges arise, said Mihajlovic.
