KALANOVIĆ: Construction of first section of highway to Montenegro starts in late May

- Construction of the first section of Belgrade - South Adriatic highway should start in late May 2010 - said Verica Kalanović, the Minister for National Investment Plan of Serbia.

She told Beta agency that the section between Ub and Lajkovac, 12.5 km long, would be built the first and that 2bn RSD had been set aside from the budget of Serbia for that purpose.

For that section, as Ms. Kalanović pointed out, there is a complete project with technical documentation, and the works on land expropriation are currently underway.

- If everything goes as planned, tender should be announced in April, while the works should start at the end of May - said the Minister and added that the construction of that section was planned to be two-year project.

Ms. Kalanović also said that the tenders for elaboration of the project documentation for Obrenovac-Ub and Lajkovac-Ljig sections had already been announced.

She added that the section from Belgrade to Obrenovac was not ready yet even for the tender for elaboration of the project documentation.

Total length of Belgrade-South Adriatic highway is 455 km, 255 km of which in Serbia.
